Project Name: Princeton University Hospital
Project Duration: 10 months
Location: Princeton, NJ
Project Owner: Avalon Bay Communities
Project Description: Demolition and recycling of 7 structures, asbestos abatement & environmental remediation.
Yannuzzi Group was contracted by Avalon Bay Communities to tear down the famed, former Princeton University Hospital. The hospital, a long standing landmark in the city of Princeton and the place where Albert Einstein received his final medical treatment, needed to be demolished to make room for an affordable housing development.
The project consisted of the razing of 7 structures including a 7 story main hospital building and the recycling of all salvageable materials, asbestos abatement and environmental remediation of the site to safeguard for future housing. Due to the former hospital being located in a residential community, the project required strict noise restrictions and dust free demolition. By building a temporary sound-absorbing barrier around the premises and utilizing water to control the dust, Yannuzzi was able to keep in compliance with the acceptable noise standards and ensure good air quality for the surrounding neighborhood.
