AN OPEN LETTER ON SAFETY IN THE DEMOLITION AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
The Yannuzzi Group of companies has been performing work on the East Coast since 1929. Throughout our eighty-seven years of experience we have remained committed to the welfare and wellbeing of everyone in our company and in the larger community.
Demolition Contractors are not known for surviving this long in an industry that is plagued with injuries. The Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is a tool that the workman’s compensation insurance industry uses to gauge the past safety record of an employer and determine future risk. The OSHA 300 log of work-related injuries and illnesses is utilized to determine the EMR. Ratings lower than 1.0 indicate a safer working environment than the average in the industry.
The Yannuzzi Group’s rigorous safety programs, training and well maintained equipment have yielded an excellent Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.667. Our consistently low rating proves that Yannuzzi’s safety record is significantly better than the industry average, solidifying our position as a leader in jobsite safety.
We are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment by consistently enforcing our comprehensive Safety Program at all times – no excuses. A top priority for the Yannuzzi Group is to continually refine and improve our Safety Program far beyond industry norms so that we can maintain our status as an ideal employer and trusted contractor in the construction industry.
One of the ways in which we accomplish this goal is by distributing state-of-the-art safety equipment and training to our employees. Yannuzzi’s commitment to our employees means that we must go above and beyond to provide a safe working environment. We exceed OSHA requirements for employee exposure monitoring and make certain that no one is overlooked. We keep abreast of industry standards and strive to go beyond those requirements.
At Yannuzzi, we believe strongly that safety is everyone’s job. We will continue to encourage our employees to immediately recognize and correct any safety issue, and to bring issues that they cannot resolve themselves to the attention of the Site Safety Officer.
Construction and demolition sites can be dangerous, but the hazards can be mitigated by following proper safety procedures. No construction site should ever be chaotic – our jobsites are noted for their coordination, orderliness and teamwork under strict supervision of trained onsite foremen. Proper adherence to safety measures reduces risks and ensures a predictable, safe working environment so that our employees can go home to their families at the end of the day, safe and sound.
